Pre Christmas Party Menu 2018

If you book a table of 6 or more before the end of October then you will receive a free bottle of Prosecco on your table.

New Blog

With our new web site, and having owned The Cock Inn for ten years, we thought it was high time we started a blog. We’ve got such a lot of loyal regulars who we see time and time again, and they often ask us to write more about our experiences here at The Cock… so here it is!

June 2015

We’ve been busy decorating in the restaurant and have replaced lots of the tables.  This week sees our lovely wooden floors being sanded down and revarnished.  As the Cock Inn is such an old building there is always something that needs doing.  We like to keep The Cock Inn looking at its best.  Our lovely 16th Century cosy bar with lots of original features is full of character and a great place to enjoy a pint of real ale such as local Harveys of Lewes Best Bitter or why not try one of our two frequently changing Guest Ales from local Sussex microbreweries.

This week a heatwave is predicted and our lovely garden will come into its own.  We have lots of tables outside and it is a great place to enjoy a glass of wine or two or maybe a jug of Pimms!  Glyndebourne is in full swing and The Cock Inn is easily accessible – we often have members of the orchestra popping in for a quick dinner in the interval.  Let’s hope we have a lovely hot summer so that we can all enjoy being outside as much as possible.

September 2015

Well August was a bit of a washout but we’re hoping for some late summer sunshine even though we have also turned our thoughts to Christmas already.  We know from experience that once the summer holidays are over everyone starts thinking about Christmas parties, family get-togethers and Christmas lunches.  We have published our December menu so that you can download it from the website here to share around.

This year we will not be opening on Christmas Day because after 10 years we have decided to give ourselves a break!  We will however be doing Christmas Day lunch at our sister pub The Highlands in Uckfield where it will be an exciting time for us to show off our new venue and welcome customers both old and new.  Call them on 01825 762989 for details.

Almost October

We’ve been enjoying the late summer sunshine and over the weekend lots of people sat in the garden to make the most of the gorgeous weather – especially Sunday Roasts which are always incredibly popular.  Our garden at The Cock Inn is still looking great thanks to the efforts of Rob our gardner and it is a great place to enjoy one of our guest real ales and meet up with friends and family.

We’ve got some great guest ales on tap as usual – at the moment in honour of the Rugby World Cup we have Weltons All Black – a black IPA plus Golden Tipple from Long Man Brewery.  Both are proving very popular.

We’re taking bookings already for December parties and get togethers and have published our special December Christmas Party Menu which is available to download from our news page here and is available throughout December (except Christmas Day when we are closed) in addition to our regular blackboard menu.  People really do start thinking about Christmas in September!!

February 2016

Wow – doesn’t time fly!  Can’t believe we’re over half way through February at The Cock Inn and we’ve successfully celebrated Christmas, New Year, Burns Night and just recently Valentines Weekend – a really busy weekend because the 14th fell on a Sunday this year so you chose to celebrate with your loved ones on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  We had some lovely specials on the Specials Board such as whole baked camembert to share, Half a Roasted Duck, Scallops with Chorizo, and some yummy desserts including homemade chocolate mousse and toffee and walnut sponge with toffee sauce and clotted cream.  All calorie free of course.  And utterly delicious

 

We are now planning for Mothers Day on Sunday 6th March which we know is always one of our busiest days of the year.  Call The Cock on 01273 812040 to book a table to avoid disappointment.  We are offering a slightly smaller menu than usual to cope with the sheer volume of diners and the price will be 2 courses for £18.95 or 3 courses for £24.95.  You can download and print a copy of the menu from the website under News.

The Highlands, Uckfield

We’re delighted to announce our latest venture at The Highlands in Uckfield which we acquired in mid October after extensive refurbishment. Check out our new website www.ridleyinns.co.uk and our new Facebook Page The Highlands Inn, Uckfield.  The Highlands is open 7 days a week and booking is essential.  Please note we currently are not doing food on Sunday and Monday Evenings although Sunday Evenings are really popular for our Live Music where we are featuring local live bands and it’s a great atmosphere.
